The footwear you choose aren’t just the end bits of your outfit, or a functional bit of clothing to stop you hurting your tootsies. Footwear is often a fetish in its own right.
It may be female-assigned shoes on people who identify male (the typical example would be high heels - also see F is for Femme for more on cross-gendered clothing), or workman’s boots like Caterpillar boots, sometimes industrial footwear, or waders or rubber boots being the go-to choice if you like your sex messy. For some it's high-top trainers/sneakers, flip-flops are another, but the point is this: whatever goes on your feet is not a side-issue.
Footwear can be expensive whether fetishwear or not, and it can be hard the spend when it's footwear for your hobby (sex life). However there are cost effective solutions if you know where to look.
My first pair of boots came from eBay, cost a little over £20 and have done a fantastic job. They’re unbranded (at least not a brand I’ve heard of), well made but not spectacular craftsmanship. They got me into The Backstreet (a leather bar with a strict dress code) and have been a phenomenal purchase. You can purchase my pair here, but have a look especially at eBay and what is on offer pre-loved.
Leather Side-note
@leatheredge on Twitter has a phenomenal series of videos on breaking into the leather community called #howtoleather and did a whole series on what order you should buy your leather gear. Number 1 was boots. Definitely go have a watch.
