STUD Krisco Jock Thong in Neon Green STUD Krisco Jock Thong in Neon Green It might be the most hideous garment ever to exist and signify a giant step backwards in fashion and good taste, but like Joseph Merrick‘s mother before me, I just can’t stop loving it! STUD are an Australian company, which represent the younger age bracket of circuit and Fetishwear. As a consumer who sits outside of their demographic, the clothes they make are generally confusing and disorientating to me, but this particular item caught my eye. The Jock Thong, or Thong Jock, or V-Jock, or Bubblebutt-Jock, or whatever zippedy-zop name you want to give it, it’s a combination of the thong and the jock. The idea is that is lifts from underneath (like a jock), while separating and shaping the cheeks (like a thong), all while leaving you mostly naked (like a slut). Annoyingly, it actually does do all those things and it does them quite well. But to me it still feels like when musicians make unlikely collaborations which clearly have nothing to do with admiration for one’s peers, and everything to do with money. Have they really “always wanted to work together,” or are they using someone else’s fan-base to prop up the sales of a terrible album? That said, I don’t want to like unlikely musician collaborations, but I do. And I don’t want to like these underwear, but I do. They’re not even cool. They’re that thing beyond cool, where they’re so uncool that they’re cool again; somewhere just beyond Johnny Bravo and just before The Fonze. Wafers wish they were as thin as the fabric it’s made from. The construction is bizarre leaving the front in an ant-eater-esq shape. And the colours… mm-hmm. It’s new and youthful, which means it will sell in droves (this twat already bought one, and was stuck with this colour because the black and white was sold out). Andrew Christian and Sukrew have done some smart, adultish, versions of the Jockthong too, but will never feel as rebellious as STUD’s. They fit true to size, and I very much doubt will survive an aggressive bout of gas, let alone a wash. No one was looking for it, but I somehow managed to find it! I give you: The Tackiest swim suit on Earth. For a grand total of £5.95 and a calendar month to ship, I am now the proud owner of this… thing. If you like your swimwear badly made, with a gimmick that doesnt work or make sense, which has a shamefully in-bad-taste-message on the ass (even for me!), look no further! If this item has two things going for it, it’s that 1. the pattern they used is ok. It fits me. And 2. I like black and pink. Otherwise, the stitching is wonky, the zip goes all of three inches to reveal the bit you could just as easily see see on any plumber, the zip sometimes stays up, sometimes doesn’t (we just don’t know), and sometimes it will just pop open. The footwear you choose aren’t just the end bits of your outfit, or a functional bit of clothing to stop you hurting your tootsies. Footwear is often a fetish in its own right. It may be female-assigned shoes on people who identify male (the typical example would be high heels - also see F is for Femme for more on cross-gendered clothing), or workman’s boots like Caterpillar boots, sometimes industrial footwear, or waders or rubber boots being the go-to choice if you like your sex messy. For some it's high-top trainers/sneakers, flip-flops are another, but the point is this: whatever goes on your feet is not a side-issue. They got me into The Backstreet (a leather bar with a strict dress code) and have been a phenomenal purchase. If you’re interested in the community, but don’t know where to start, a good first step is to find champions of the aesthetic online and learn from them (see the images at the top of the page for two excellent examples). Back to the A-Z Neoprene – from Titus Mr S Leather Neoprene from Clonezone Neoprene is a synthetic rubber – it’s basically what wet suits are made off. Thicker and more forgiving than rubber, but cheaper and more form-fitting than leather. It feels nice against your skins, but – like the aforementioned – can get very hot if worn for a long time. Pup hoods are often made of this as they hold their shape, can be worn for long periods, can be washed and made in multiple colours. Can be made wet-look and is a relative newcomer in the fetish world. As the new boy, neoprene scenes are harder to find than puppy, rubber or leather. Mr. S Leather do a huge range of neoprene items, but they can be pricey for a first time out. As a hugely important and iconic bit of kit – not to mention, incredibly hot – the harness has hung around for generations, and spawned many iterations of its own. The Bulldog Harness / H-Front Harness The most recognisable style of harness and most popular. Comes in a myriad of styles and colours. (Read our ‘How To…‘ guide on how to wear yours) Sling Harness / Cross-Back Harness / Sport Harness This style is a little more subtle, but just as functional (in terms of its hold-on-ability). It’s also easier to wear and – for the furry chested – less likely to get hairs caught. Cross-Front Harness This style meets at the front in – surprise, surprise – and X shape. These can be troublesome to wear if they don’t fit your body shape well and arguably not as flattering as the Bulldog. Suspenders / Braces While technically not a type of harness, when worn without a shirt the effect is the same.
